Circuit decouverte château de Fontainebleau

Run! 12/03/29 Lunch run

5km/30min. It's my first run in lunch time. Seems a good fit into working schedule :) Hope I can be motivated enough to keep it going!

Run! 12/03/26 gym run

I planned for 10km, but started to get a familiar pain at left toe around 7km. Blister again -__-

So I stopped at 7.25km/45min. Well, not too bad, isn't it? :)

Run! 12/03/20 Night run

GPS didn't work, so I have no record of distance. Should be some 3.x km/30 min.

Even with ample lights, night run still feels more quiet and private, in particular when I can stay away from the traffic thanks to the woods in the park. Missing the nighttime in the mountain huts...

Run! 12/03/15 Morning "trail" run

Who can imagine that Beijing also has such beautiful morning :) The "hills" are right by the river, about 30 meters high, with a zigzag trail along the ridge.

Did a rough round, but actually on different trails going on parallel right next to each other. Will do this route more in future.

Run! 12/03/08 Lake-2-lake trail@Bellevue

Lake-2-lake is a classical trail in Bellevue, about 10 miles one way, connecting Washington Lake to Phantom Lake. Although generally well-indicated with labels and notes, it's not easy to keep the right direction across the complex road web in the US, even in Bellevue, one of the most runner-friendly cities. I have followed it in several tries. Here it is only a small part of the trail, but still got a quite good overall impression of its style.

The first section starting from Washington Lake is of course enjoyable. However, if you run in the direction that start here, you'll be running away from the lake, so probably not much lake view. The middle part cross the city center is just so so. The intersting part starts from Bellefield Office Park where one runs over creeks and woods. After crossing the 405 highway, Wilburton Hill Park offers more natural feeling. Greenfields and parks then link all the way via Larsen Lake until Phantom Lake.

Hope to have the chance to cover it in one run sometime!

Run! 12/02/19 Outdoor

It's still cold outside, but more tolerable than January, in particular in sunny afternoon. A short outdoor run made the city much more lovely! The speed is slower than normal: 4km/31m23, mainly due to the last part during which I lost my way looking for the exit. I'm happy that I didn't catch a cold ;)

Run! 12/02/17 Back to practise

After the stretching 21km in HK on 5th, it's finally time to back to practice! The toes with blisters still hurt a bit, but the tiredness has generally gone. A normal 5km/34m, with a short water break in the middle. I feel the necessity of doing longer kilometers before my first full marathon...

Run! 12/02/05 Second half marathon@Hong Kong

Covered 21km in 2h13 in Hong Kong Marathon 2012. It was a nice run across the downtown and along the sea, despite the weather was already a bit too warm for long distance. The food shops in the last mile smelled great. I hadn't practiced much since the December event in Shanghai, and the tunnel was really tough for me. Anyway, I managed to finish without catching a cold this time!

Sad to hear that a young man died after finishing half marathon. It's not wise to let your mind strength go beyond your physical limit...

Run! 12/01/30 5km

Next match is on this Sunday, so just a short relaxed 5km this week.
5km/32min, no pressure, no hassle :)

Run! 12/01/20 10km

'65"30, not bad after a long break. Feeling somewhat ready for the coming half marathon next weekend in HK :)

Run! 12/01/14 First outdoor run in Beijing

It's not that enjoyable to run in minus temperature weather... Anyway, just a short warm-up: 4.4km, '32"22. Hope the weather gets warmer soon :)

Run! 11/12/05 First half marathon@Shanghai

The first half marathon for me: 2h10@Shanghai.

I've seen this sentence somewhere: Marathon is the best present that a city can provide to a visitor. Indeed, I don't see any other opportunities that can allow me to run right in the middle of the street along the Bund. The weather was good, little wind, though a bit mist on the river. Cheering crowds along all the way. I even got a banana from a non-official "food station" :) Shanghai is not and probably will never be my favorite city, but it did become more beautiful when I visit it on my own foot.

Run! 11/11/09 Back to gym

After 3-year pleasant outdoor jogging in Tokyo, I finally went back to indoor gym after relocated back to Beijing. The cold weather, polluted air, and lack of decent jogging trail all discouraged one from running in the nature. But I just do NOT like running indoor on a stupid machine. This takes out almost every piece of fun in this sport.

I'm investigating several possible solutions including one park trail roughly in the direction from my home to my office. Maybe I can run to work before the traffic hour? Wish the air can be more or less cleaner at that hour. Indeed, the government should award all joggers in town: clean our city with your lung!

Hope I can come back with more good news soon...

Run! 11/09/18 First trail run race!

I attended my first trail run race in Japan: Hakuba international trail run! I covered 20km in 3 hours, including quite some up-and-downs, happy! More details in Chinese(^_^)

Run! 11/09/11 test lowest speed

I've been always worrying about how slow I would be at the last 5km, so I did a test of run+walk+stop this afternoon. The result is 5km/47min, which means I should be able to get the 10km outside mountain done in 2 hours without any problem. How about the rest 10km in the mountain? Hmm, no idea, but should be doable in 4 hours...

Good luck to me next weekend in Hakuba! :D

First trail run @

I must admit it was not a good choice: there are too many hard ground such as stone and cement while too few soft natural ground. My knees hurt! Let's hope the conditions are better at Hakuba. The weather was poor too. It rained often, and when it didn't rain, it was sweltering :( But at least I had more or less some nice view during the hike:

Anyway, the result was okay: 13km/4h, on average 3km/h, and I didn't feel exhausted at the end. I should be able to do another 5km flat or downhill, but any uphill will be huge pain.

By the way, low as it is (877m), Tsukuba Hill is one of the Japanese 100 famous mountains! And my 5th among the 100 :)

Run! 11/08/31 lame...

4km/30min, what can I say except lame?!

Thursday, August 25, 2011

Run! 11/08/25 Restart seriously

8.0km/59min, average 8.16km/h, dropped quite much from my previous best, sigh... I need to do more 1-hour run. 5km is too short if I want to do a half by the end of this year! A problem of this course is that it is too flat! Only a gain of 173m. How am I supposed to train for trail run with it? :-( Aiming at 15-18km next month!

The main fun of today is testing the Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra GTX I just bought yesterday. It was somewhat harder and less-cushioned than my Asics pair, but should be quite comfortable on real trails. Again, it's not for city run.

Run! 11/08/22 Just for fun

5.5km/39min, average speed 8.56km/h. Just a test to see how much worse I got, sigh, il ne faut pas prendre des repos!
