How to fix Wubi after Ubuntu 14.04 upgrade

I've been planned to convert the Wubi installation on my old PC to a complete Ubuntu system long time ago, but the hassle of backing up Windows files has held me back. End of the day, Wubi is a relatively safe option comparing to true dual-system solutions, and I'm keeping Windows 7 on this machine anyway. So I ended up finally upgrading Wubi to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS today.

As expected, Ubuntu failed to start after upgrading. The fix is quite easy (for my case at least...):
1. In choosing system screen, choose Ubuntu and press "Enter"
2. Press "Shift" immediately after to enter Grub menu
3. Press "e" at Grub menu to edit the Grub menu
4. Replace
"linux /boot/$your Linux version$ root=$some ID number$ loop=/ubuntu/disks/root.disk ro   quiet splash $vt_handoff"
to
"linux /boot/$your Linux version$ root=$some ID number$ loop=/ubuntu/disks/root.disk rw   quiet splash $vt_handoff"
5. Press F10 to boot into Ubuntu
6. If you succeed in boot into Ubuntu this time, make your change permanent by making the same edit in /etc/grub.d/10_lupin:
"sudo vi /etc/grub.d/10_lupin"
"sudo update-grub"
If you don't use vim, any other text editor such as gedit can do as well. Just don't forget to add "sudo", otherwise you won't be able to save your change.
7. Open /boot/grub/grub.cfg to confirm that the change has also been made there by update-grub.
8. Restart your system to check if everything works well now.

At step 2, if you hold another key instead of "Shift", you will very likely end up here:
"[ Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported.For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device/file completions]
grub>"
In this case, type "reboot" and wait for the choosing system screen to appear to try again with the before-mentioned solution.

2014年展览参观总结+2015年计划

2014年的博物馆去得不多，但是演出真是看了不少，不仅是奥斯陆歌剧院的常客，巴黎歌剧院也没少去。

8月：奥斯陆歌剧院《蝴蝶夫人》
9月：Elvelangs i fakkellys，Mesteraften med Jiri Kylián 10月：Kammer-Kylián: Last Touch First 11月：挪威芭蕾舞团《罗密欧与朱丽叶》，巴黎歌剧院《波西米亚人》，《托斯卡》，《泪泉》
12月：巴黎歌剧院芭蕾舞学校汇报演出

2015年已经定了5月底巴黎歌剧院的票，其他待定:)

2014赏花总结+2015年计划

2014年的计划执行情况只能用两个字来总结：惭愧... 4月瑞士Locarno的山茶花和 5月奥地利Bad aussee的水仙花都没有去成，8月的Alps也取消了，只有奥斯陆周边还去的比较充分，8月9月去了几趟挪威的国家公园登山，总算没有太惭愧。

3月：奥斯陆植物园
4月：苏黎世郊区
6月：奥斯陆周边Nordmarka
8月：高山野花：Jotunheimen - Galdhøpiggen
9月：红叶：Hardangervidda - Rjukan, Sikkilsdalshø

2015年打算省钱，所以估计也不会去得太多，但是有一项重头戏：日本赏樱！希望今年的樱花时节不要让我失望:)

3月：奥斯陆植物园/巴黎植物园
4月：日本樱花
6月：奥斯陆周边Nordmarka
8月：高山野花：Jotunheimen
9月：红叶：Hardangervidda

其他的就看情况了，希望能够超额完成！

奥斯陆歌剧院

奥斯陆歌剧院是座很漂亮的建筑，无论对音乐有没有兴趣，大多数游客都会选择来它的大斜坡屋顶上转一圈，吹吹海风，看看落日。白色的大理石平台直接延伸入大海，仿佛整座建筑从海中生长出来一般。据说建造的时候不仅只用了三年多提前完工，而且44亿挪威克朗的预算也只花了3亿的零头。真不知道应该是夸设计师巧夺天工还是政府预算部门不食人间烟火...

总之最后建好的歌剧院是很漂亮的，极富艺术气息。不远的海中安放的现代雕塑"She Lies"据说是象征冰山，不仅具有挪威特色，而且符合此处奥斯陆峡湾的成因。我觉得它跟今年上演的《漂泊的荷兰人》特别配！

 

内景也不差，无论天花板还是幕墙都是在音响效果之外专门又请人做了外观设计的，在取材和纹理中嵌入了很多挪威元素。大面积落地玻璃窗的无敌海景深得我心，幕间休息的时候就算不喝一杯（省钱！）也绝对不会无聊。





至于音响效果如何我还真不敢说，从来没买过一楼正中黄金位置的票，不好比较。最近看了两场，一场交响乐，一场芭蕾。交响乐是挪威大提琴家Truls Mørk和La Suisse Romande合作。二楼后排正中的效果还是不错的，站席的地方声音难免有点发闷，不过下半场找了稍靠前的空位坐下来就好多了。开场的《罗密欧与朱丽叶序曲》已经没印象了，上半场是勃拉姆斯的《a小调小提琴与大提琴双协奏曲》，Vadim Repin拉小提琴跟Truls Mørk配合。Truls Mørk受过一次伤，差点就瘫痪了，重新能站起来拉琴很是不容易，所以很受本土挪威观众欢迎，反响甚是热烈。下半场伯辽兹的《幻想交响曲》无功无过，不过好歹是瑞士法语区出来的团，法国作品俨然还是比较娴熟的，好久没听过这个了，还挺想念的。

芭蕾是二楼最边上的位子，音响效果就不用想了，肯定失衡，弦乐部的声音过来都已经散了。下次改坐左边试试，离小提琴们近点可能好点，不过是背向，估计也好不到哪里去。剧目是挪威国立芭蕾舞团的《奥涅金》，男女一号都还是不错的，男一是从古巴出来的，好像这几年古巴那个团出来了不少还不错的。不过其他的就很一般了，男二同学大跳落地的那动静我听着都替他嫌疼...5月份有《天鹅湖》，几对能跳主角的都会上，打算到时挑那对英皇出来的小朋友去看一下，日本mm就算了，群舞里看着一般。

 

最后吐槽一下票价，虽然说80一张的站票甚是平易近人，但是季票实在是太鸡肋了！什么折扣都没有，就加了些乱七八糟的酒水或者首场选座之类的，对于我等穷人完全没有意义。还是巴黎歌剧院好，季票可以买到低档票里最好的位子，30欧就能在二楼正中搞个位子。我已经订了今冬明春的票，只等着到时飞过去看《泪泉》和《马勒交响曲》了:)

Oslo, I'm coming!

I moved again! The 4th time in 5 years... Why? Well, after the dream that I might be able to achieve something, I guess...

So Oslo this time, after Tokyo, Beijing and Paris. It is also a capital city, yet it is so different from the other three where I have lived. Sometimes I miss  miserably the nice service in Tokyo, the markets in Paris and the friends in Beijing, but life here is not without its special charms. The mental independence of average Norwegians really impresses me. Maybe this is the right place where I can become the person I want to be: a complete circle on my own. I made silly decisions, I did wrong things, but I am still trying to be a better person - simpler, happier, more supportive, more understanding. Maybe strength only comes from inside.

Oslo has long dark winters, but winter also has its beauty and spring will eventually arrive :)

2013年亲近自然方面还算是做得不错的，8月一趟Trail du Mont Blanc很过瘾，4月荷兰的郁金香也终于看到了。

2014年的计划比较麻烦，不想再去一遍去年刚刚去过的地方，但是还没来得及研究欧洲的野花节气。先随便列一个，过后再慢慢想了：

2013年美术馆真心去的不少。欧洲比较著名的基本划拉了一遍，除了佛罗伦萨那趟懒觉睡过了误了飞机没去成之外...巴黎的反而没去，典型的灯下黑。

2014年的计划还没怎么想好。佛罗伦萨是一定要去一趟的，其他的大概巴黎/柏林/伦敦也算是重点，德国有几个城市也想去一下，德累斯顿之类的。就先这样吧:)

How much did I fly this year?

I'm proud to announce that after a crazy travel year with 33 flights, I still flied less than 2012! Sometimes work makes you fly more without noticing it.

The 2012 record was 92279km with 24 flights. In 2013, even with some crazy route I planned for the year end trip, the distance will only reach 83124km with 33 flights. I'm really happy that it doesn't go too far.

I'll skip the list, because it will be too much work to calculate the monthly distance. Just attach the flight map here to give a general idea.

The goal for 2014: control the distance to ~60000km. Let's see how it goes...
